As a result of her recent studies, she has come away with many thought provoking questions of her own. We thought it would be a great opportunity to record this Q & A session live as some of you may grapple with the same questions Cheryl does. We hope both believers and unbelievers alike come away with a greater understanding of the faith and scripture. Do You Have Unrealistic Expectations?
Friday Jun 26, 2020
Friday Jun 26, 2020
In this episode, we explore how having unrealistic expectations of ourselves, others, God, technology, and so on can lead to feelings of disappointment, anger, and rejection. We discuss how to identify our own unrealistic expectations and the importance of moving beyond the “shoulds”, “always”, and “nevers” that we tend to cling to in our minds and beliefs. When we expect others to “read our minds” or “to just know”, it sets us and others up for failure and reminds us that when we clearly and kindly communicate our needs to others, we can set our relationships up for success. We also identify the dangers of black-n-white thinking patterns and how learning to honor our own values and needs without guilt is a much healthier approach.
